URBAN SPLASH STAYS PRO WITH ICOPAL

Almost 1,000m ² of Icopal’s Proflex range of high-performance waterproofing systems has been installed on the main roof, of Chips, Will Alsop’s first residential scheme in the UK.
Mac Roofing, a member of the Intelligent Membrane Association, have installed Icopal’s Proflex warm roof system on the Urban Splash apartment blocks - so named because they resemble a stack of chips.
The main roof caps the third layer of Chips but Mac Roofing will also be installing Icopal systems on the lower roof elements on the section of the building that cantilevers out over the canal in New Islington, Manchester.
When completed, the peninsula development on the site of the former AncoatsHospital will comprise more 142 apartments and 12,000ft ² of commercial space. The first development for private sale in the regeneration area, its dramatic shape and cladding is already shaping up as one of Manchester’s most striking buildings.
