Having worked with the organisation for four years, Icopal staff in the UK and Ireland have raised a total of £24,000 for The Christie charity. This year, fundraising efforts have resulted in £8000 given to support the trust’s fight against cancer.
Money raised will go towards supporting The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist cancer centre based in Withington, Manchester. The Christie charity works with the hospital to deliver the latest equipment to ensure patients receive the very best care and treatment. Together they also provide specialist staff and supportive services, including wig and headscarf facilities, complementary therapies and an art room with sessions for patients and carers several times each week.
The Christie charity supports the work of The Christie through its fundraising activities, and delivers projects, equipment and improvements that are over and above what the NHS funds. For example, some key posts across the hospital are also funded by The Christie charity, such as clinical nurse specialists.
Simon Woods, Sales Director at Icopal, said, “Our employees have done a fantastic job to raise this much money. There was a lot of hard work put into fundraising events such as the Three Peaks Challenge and a bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool and back again. People were also sponsored to quit smoking and supported through weight loss programmes and alcohol free months.
“This money will be going towards a great cause and I’m incredibly proud of our employees for the commitment they have shown to supporting a local charity.”
