Icopal Insulation Pour Adhesive is compatible with a range of absorbent and non-absorbent insulation boards to a variety of substrate types. It can bond the following insulation types:
Tissue faced PIR insulations boards, expanded polystyrene (EPS), bitumen faced insulation boards, extruded polystyrene (XPS), cellular glass insulation boards, cork insulation boards.
Compatible substrates include: plywood/OSB, concrete, metal decks, existing aged bitumen roof coverings, mastic asphalt (sand rubbed) and mineral surfaced bitumen roofing and bituminous vapour control layers.
For other materials not listed above, it will be necessary to carry out preliminary adhesion tests and observe insulation manufacturer’s instructions.
Ensure the substrate is structurally sound and free of surface laitance, oils, grease, dirt, frost, moss, lichen, loose material and any material which would hinder adhesion. Ensure the substrate is dry and free of standing water.
Please refer to the ‘Properties’ section regarding application temperatures. Icopal Insulation Pour Adhesive is a moisture cure product and any moisture present in the air will speed up the curing process.
Apply 30 - 40mm beads of adhesive at the required centres paying particular attention to the wind uplift requirements for the location of the project and the relevant bonding pattern for the adhesive.
Place the insulation board into the adhesive and press firmly down. The board must be placed within 10-15 minutes at 20 °C. It is recommended to check that the adhesive has fully transferred to the board by carefully lifting a corner to ensure the beads have been squeezed flat.
- Do not apply to wet roofs.
- Do not use below 5 °C. The adhesive will not cure and no bond will be formed.
- Do not apply more adhesive that can be covered in 15 minutes.
- Please read through the product’s material safety datasheet prior to use.
