Video Transcript

The typical tools required to successfully install Monarplan PVC single ply roofing membranes include:

  •  A hand held hot air welder
  • A 40mm seam roller
  • A penny roller
  • A seam probe
  • A 40mm flat nozzle
  • A 20mm flat nozzle
  • A 20mm angled nozzle
  • A pair of scissors
  • A wire brush

Monarplan PVC single ply membranes require temperatures ranging from 360 - 480°C to achieve a successful weld. Hand held welding equipment can be adjusted to achieve the correct temperature.

Before starting to weld, carry out a test to ensure the temperature setting is correct. Too hot, and the membrane will scorch and smoke. Too cold, and the membranes will not fully weld.

A shiny finish along the line of the seam demonstrates a satisfactory weld. Test the weld by pulling the two membranes apart. If the membrane tears, exposing the reinforcement, this is a good weld. If the single ply membranes separate easily, this is a bad weld.
