Low parapet upstands are a common roofing detail. The video demonstrates how a low parapet can be waterproofed using Monarplan PVC single ply roofing membrane, coated metal and pre-fabricated corners.
Measure, mark and cut the pre-fabricated coated metal angle at the appropriate place and locate in position. Once located, mechanically fix the coated metal angle to the substrate.
Again, measure, mark and cut the higher coated metal angle and locate in position. Make two further cuts and remove the triangular sections.
Once in position, mechanically fix the coated metal angle.
Cut a section of single ply roofing membrane spanning between the two vertical faces of the coated metal angles. Spot weld in position.
Weld the upper edge of the membrane to the coated metal.
Using the 20mm angled nozzle, weld the lower edge of the membrane to the coated metal.
At the base of the upstand weld strips of Monarplan FM single ply membrane spanning between the horizontal leg of the coated metal and the membrane beneath.
At the corner base, weld the Monarplan External Corner to the 90° angle, creasing any cross joints with the penny roller.
At the top of the upstand, locate a pre-cut section of Monarplan membrane over the cut joint and spot weld in position.
Weld the horizontal area of membrane to the coated metal, before returning down the vertical faces and welding in position.
At the corner angle, apply heat to weld the loose membrane together, before returning and welding it back to the vertical face.
Across the top of the parapet, weld Monarplan Reinforced Strip between the two coated metal angles, creasing the single ply roofing membrane at cross joints with the penny roller.
Complete the detail by rounding off the corner.
