Roofgard SP1 High Performance Clamping Ring Rainwater Outlet

Roof outlets are an essential element of flat roof design to enable rainwater to drain quickly from the building. The performance and quality of a roof outlet will have considerable influence on the initial build and ongoing maintenance costs.

Icopal’s marine grade cast aluminium Roofgard SP1 Clamping Ring Outlet has been designed specifically for use with Icopal single ply membranes. The outlet has a unique butyl strip which is recessed beneath the clamping ring to seal the membrane and prevent any possible water ingress into the building. With a high hydraulic efficiency, designers can reduce the number of outlets on a flat roof, reducing new build costs and risk. It can equally be used in the retrofit market, as the 82 mm diameter outlet spigot can achieve a greater flow rate than the originally installed roof outlet.

In addition to its hydraulic efficiency, it can be supplied with a unique recessed insulation box for use in warm roof applications that makes installation fast and trouble-free, whilst also making it compliant with Part L thermal bridging requirements.

The Roofgard SP1 Clamping Ring Outlet assembly comprises the specified outlet with corresponding diameter connection pipe, along with a Dome or a Flat Leaf Grate.

The outlet grate and clamping ring are polyester powder coated in cyan blue, and the bowl body is mill finished. The leaf grate is available in a dome or flat grate.

  • Icopal Single Ply Systems: Roofgard SP1 Clamping Ring Outlet is intended for use with Icopal Monarplan PVC, Sureplan FPO, and Icopal Universal POCB waterproofing membranes in warm roof, cold roof and inverted roof applications.
  • Unique Butyl Seal: Designed specifically for Icopal single-ply roofing membranes, the butyl strip seals the waterproof membrane below the clamping ring to prevent water ingress into the building.
  • Insulation Box: In warm roof scenarios the outlet can be fitted into the specially recessed insulation box to provide a drainage solution which is thermally efficient and compliant with Part L thermal bridging requirements.
  • Refurbishment or New Build: The outlet is suitable for use with Icopal single-ply roofing membranes in new build or refurbishment projects. A refurbishment adapter ring can be used to allow the Ø 82 mm outlet spigot to slot into an existing Ø 110 mm outlet pipe.
  • Ease of Installation: There is no need to weld the membrane to the outlet, the clamping ring simply clamps down onto the membrane to create a watertight seal.
  • Long Life Expectancy: Manufactured from marine grade aluminium and powder coated, the outlet has a life expectancy of 50 years or more. The longer the life expectancy, the lower the total maintenance costs will be.

    Flow Rates

    Flow rate data has been determined by physical measurements, based on a 35mm head of water adjacent to the outlet, all in accordance with EN 12056. The flow rates should be used as a guide only. Each drainage area will have individual features that may influence overall flow characteristics.

  • Durability and Maintenance

    Roofgard SP1 Clamping Ring Outlets are manufactured from marine grade aluminium and under normal UK atmospheric conditions, if correctly installed, have a life expectancy of 50 years or more. The life expectancy may be marginally reduced in environmentally aggressive areas, such as highly polluted or coastal locations.

    Roof Outlets should be inspected at least once a year, particularly at the end of autumn to ensure the grates are not blocked, as part of a preventative maintenance programme.

    Roofgard SP1 Terrace Grate Kit

    The Terrace Grate can be used in applications with paving, terraces/balconies or green roofs. A Roofgard SP1 Terrace Grate is always used in conjunction with a Roofgard SP1 Extension Ring to raise the grate to the level of the paving. The Roofgard SP1 Extension Ring is 110mm high, and can be cut down to match the height of the paving, or be stacked one on top of another to raise the height of the square grate to match the overall system depth, for example in warm inverted roofs.

    The kit comprises a terrace grate, an extension ring, and M6/M8 fixing nuts, bolts and washers. Additional extension rings can be ordered separately.
